Today I have a very interesting Byzantine 5 Nummi coin featuring a Chi-Rho or , an early Christian symbol. For a bit of extra interest, it is partly offset. More on all that here: coinofnote.com/byzantine-5-nun

I'd like to start posting something with a religious link on Sundays, but using what hashtag? - open to any ideas?

Last week I shared a Roman coin from Gallienus featuring a stag. This week, I have another from the same series, featuring an Antelope. Even more interesting, like my Henry III penny, it has been cut in half! But why? More: coinofnote.com/cut-gallienus-a

Another milled Cash coin is this Guang Xu Tong Bao from . Interestingly featuring a square inner rim, but a round central hole. There is an interesting size comparison between this and a cast cash coin of the era at coinofnote.com/china-guang-xu-

I find these thin, machine-struck cash coins quite an interesting juncture between the cast cash coins which were used for several thousand years, and modern minting techniques. Here is a Khải Định Thông Bảo 1 Cash coin, which was issued in from 1916-1926. More at: coinofnote.com/vietnam-1-cash-

I can't believe it has been 26 years since Princess Diana died. There were many non-circulating tribute coins minted after her death. The only circulating coin to ever feature the princess was this 1981 50c from minted to commemorate her marriage to (then) Prince Charles.

Werth-Marke or Wert-Mark tokens are generic tokens which were used primarily in . There is a fascinating number of varieties, although it can be frustrating to have a little information - like the A K counterstamp on this one - and know that you'll probably never find out what that stood for or who issued it. This 1 Văn coin was issued Minh Mạng of Vietnam between 1800 - 1822. Vietnamese Văn coins were similar to the Chinse Cash coins, although often slightly smaller and lighter than their Chinese counterparts.

Here is a 25 Centime piece from Ville de Gex, a commune in the department of Ain, in north-east , not too far from Geneva, Switzerland. This is listed on Numista as a coin: en.numista.com/catalogue/piece But I suspect it should be a token

I don't have a piece for them yet, but here is one from the brand they took over from, the Victorian Railways (From sites.google.com/view/railway- ). Today is the 45th anniversary of the death of South African president Nicolaas J. Diederichs. He was president from 1975 - until his death on 21st August 1978, and was commemorated on this 1 Rand coin from 1979. The slogan above the Springbok reads "Soli Deo gloria", one of the five Reformers' basic beliefs during the Protestant Reformation. It means "Glory to God alone".

One thing I love about world coins is the variety of styles and designs. In this case, the simple yet elegant style of the “2” taking up most of the reverse of this 2 Forint from 1984. The obverse features the country name and socialist coat of arms. My example worked hard & is well used. But on coinofnote.com/hungary-1984-2- I have an interesting photo of a silver proof 2 Forint which is very clearn!

I really like the coat of arms of , as featured on their coins. Here is a 1/2 Sol de Oro from 1944 showing the shield surrounded by branches with a wreath above - more detail on coinofnote.com/peru-1-2-sol-19 - The reverse features text in a circle around the edge with the value in the centre, similar to the German 5 Deutsche Mark coin from the 1950s. This Peruvian Sol de Oro design was in use from 1935 - 1965.
