Video of my presentation from btc++ in Mexico City in December:

about "Steganographic Decentralized Market-based Coinjoin" (well, and a bit of philosophizing about bitcoin at the start!)

Thanks to organizers, was a great conf (and actually good job with the recording!)

liquidity ads on CLN produce really nice little coinjoins :)

I'm currently only playing around with it and don't understand all the settings, but it looks good.

There's a decent number of ads out there on the network.

It'll only be *really* good though, after taproot, when the output scripts aren't distinguishable.

Fun, simple coinjoin explorer from supertestnet (press 'back' to go back to earlier blocks, so it's effectively something to check for recent coinjoins):

I'd love to know if any 'chain watchers' out there could update the now very-old stats that LaurentMT collected on UIH violation probabilities; see the definition of UIH here and Laurent's stats in a lower-down comment:

ramble warning on:

"Make every spend a coinjoin" is a phrase some people have been saying for a few years, and I never liked it.

It *does* work for payjoin; it does not work for equal-out coinjoins (you know - the one people actually use a lot!). Unpacking the second clause of that sentence is where this turns into a ramble.

With a centrally coordinated coinjoin, you have to have a consensus coinjoin amount; and the receiver doesn't want that amount (like 0.01).

Reading

lightningprivacy.com/en/channe

reminded me of my old concept 'CoinjoinUnlimited', explained in the second half of:

reyify.com/blog/coinjoinxt

So the thing is, with splicing rather than channel opens as some of the 'sinks' of this structure, works even better: with musig it's steganographic, with splicing it can be used to pay inside channels or rebalance liquidity, and break subset sum at the same time.

Some recent stats on Joinmarket from block scanning:

From block 759000 to 759616, representing about 4.28 days, I see 213 JM coinjoin transactions, for a rate of very close to 50 per day.
The false positive rate is non-zero; my guess from sampling is it's actually ~40 per day.

It is also notable that we're starting to see 13-17 party joins, here is one example:

df4fa37a2af2d248750de63279ec124e45e34631e726f66ea5850e696328f59e

- onion messaging is probably helping here.
