Here is another State Constitution where you have to be a Christian to hold public office. In fact, each state had similar writing.
Here's the Constitution of Pennsylvania in 1776, Section 10. And each member of the House of Representatives, before he takes his seat, shall make and subscribe the following declaration, I do believe in one God, the Creator and Governor of the universe, the rewarder of the good and the punisher of the wicked, and I do acknowledge the scripture of the Old and New Testament to be given by divine inspiration.

Pets in Colonial America were kept by the colonists for the same reasons they were in Europe: for companionship and, in the case of dogs, for protection, hunting, and herding. Cats controlled vermin in homes and barns until the 18th century when they became valued as house pets.

Who likes pub history? Built in 1784, this is one of the oldest brick tavern buildings in the United States. George Washington stayed here for two nights in 1791.

It’s part of Old Salem, a historic district in Winston-Salem, NC that started out as a Moravian settlement. The whole street is 18th and early 19th century houses. It’s like going back in time
