Most of us will never forget the damage this flooding caused along the Front Range of Colorado. The bridge south of us, over a creek that was usually a trickle, was destroyed.

more photos from the dry lake bed. The second photo is a reed plate from a harmonica for those that aren’t familiar. All items were left in place and are now under water.

A lake I spend a lot of time on was drained a couple of years back exposing an old homestead. Here are some pictures from the site .

Uncle Osni Wallace about 1911, Baca County, Colorado. He was born in Wisconsin, and moved successively to Iowa, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and finally Colorado.

His sister was my 2nd great grandmother, Embrosina (Wallace) .

The bunkhouse at Blue Bird Mine located in the Caribou Ranch Open Space in Boulder county. It started as a silver mine in the late 1800's, and stayed active until 1893, when the price is silver dropped. Hikers find pieces of pottery, glass, utensils, etc and arrange their findings on the porch of the bunkhouse. This is one of my favorite hikes.

A bit of Colorado history I knew nothing about. Cathay Williams was a slave who joined the Buffalo Soldiers as a man. legendsofamerica.com/cathay-wi

I came across this story of the 1870s murder of a Tuscarawas County, Ohio man that read like a scene from an old western movie. I could not resist telling it. @histodons

I’m working on blog post about a local man who was murdered while taking part in a buffalo hunt in north-central Colorado in 1873. Had a hard time finding a good image to use as a feature, so thought I’d ask Dall-E 2. Gave the basics as a prompt and got four pretty good images to use. Not sure how I feel about it and it’s kind of creepy actually.

Working on a new collection of Coors Scientific Porcelain (which is to technical ceramics what Pyrex is to glass). Some very cool lab, domestic, and commercial artifacts!

Today marks 158 years since the Sand Creek Massacre, where 100's of peaceful Arapaho & Cheyenne ppl were killed by US army soldiers on the eastern plains.

This is still living history. Still impacting life in CO today.

For instance, because of this deadliest day in Colorado's history, we will all soon have a new name for one of CO's most iconic 14'ers (probably). Goodbye Mt Evans. Hello Mt. Blue Sky!
