Using a steel brush, embracing calligraphic marks. These discrete strokes that create a whole letter have been practiced again and again.

My Rondo Series is drawn on 6 inch rounds of 5/8 inch MDF. I’m still working on the series since I have a few blanks ready to be gessoed and sanded.

A favourite piece.
With all of these I am aiming for a sense of balance in both composition and colour. And usually a sense of...quiet(?)...if that makes sense for a graphic work. A visual counterpoint to the ambient/experimental music that provides my near-constant studio soundtrack.

"Afterglow"

I would struggle to reproduce most of these images. There are many source images contributing to them, and I chose not to save all the intermediate stages, or copies with all the source layers included. As a piece takes shape, promising states are saved as single images, to be continued or abandoned. There is no going back, only ever forward.
