I was thinking about part this food study and how, if they mixed up some M&Ms, people ate 77% more out of a bowl with 10 colors as a bowl with 7. Because of the perceived increase in variety even though all #colors of #M&M taste the same. I don't know if this is a primarily-evolutionary aspect of humanity or if it's influenced by culture/environment but we're drawn to a variety of color
