While recovering from the emergency #proctosigmoidectomy that gave me my #stoma, I was advised that I would still pass goo / mucus balls "occasionally".

I think the doctors underestimated just how much mucus my body produces 😅

I squeeze mucus out of my rectal pouch daily, sometimes even a couple of times in a day.

On the plus side, if the NHS ever actually gets around to reversing this for me, I won't have forgotten how to use my poop muscles 🤣

However, some patients end up with a permanent stoma.

Put it on too late & you've got a dangly stoma that you've got to squeeze back inside.

Put it on too early & you'll possibly blow out the bag if poop gets stuck around the top of the ostomy bag.

So, I woke up this morning with a nearly full ostomy bag. It would have been too difficult to squeeze all the contents out, so I changed the bag.

My stoma (named "Lil Bitch") has just now half-filled the new bag with "soft serve", which is difficult to get out of a bag, even if you've added some baby oil.

The stump isn't connected to the rest of my colon currently, but is rather sealed off.

It does, however, still produce mucus, which results in me pooping out "goo balls" pretty regularly from it.

I recently tested whether one can boof (take rectally) a progesterone capsule into a stoma.

The short answer was that you can, but it really doesn't work well, as the stoma ejects it before it sufficiently dissolves.

For science, I tried boofing into my remaining rectal stump resulting from my "Hartmann's procedure" surgery.

With a little bit of lube, it worked surprising well 😌💊☝

I couldn't find a definitive answer to whether you can "boof" (take rectally) a progesterone capsule into a stoma rather than via the regular rectal route.

For science, I have just gently inserted one an inch or two into my stoma, then put on my ostomy belt, so it doesn't work its way out overnight.

I'll let you know how it goes 😌
