#Tunnel5 brush fire in the Columbia River Gorge, across the Columbia from Hood River, which is an hour East of Portland, OR. Started yesterday, July 2, & is throwing off plenty of smoke but fortunately hasn't made it very far. They're using brand new air tankers & scooping up river water to fight it! #hoodriver

I'm #grateful for the oasis of #columbiarivergorge.
I'll be making greater use of this space on trips to visit my father.
He'll be celebrating 91 years in a few days. He is a good man and a good example to follow.
Unfortunately, #dementia is slowly worsening his quality of life. My step-mother is healthy enough to care for him; otherwise, he would a care facility. Routine and home is what is most important to him now.
I'm trying to arrange for more help. It's a little difficult for her to accept, but I think she's finally ready. I don't live close enough to help as much as I would like.

I always liked this picture for the absolute incongruity of it: just a glimpse of Maryhill Museum, some sort of heavy construction in the short distance, hills that rise out of nowhere with a rustic fence, and a row of wind turbines that appear to be marching over the hills. Of course, can't beat that lovely blue sky with puffy white clouds.
