Member states on Friday decided to postpone the final decision on the introduction of a #ban on the sale of new vehicles with internal #combustionengines after 2035, the #Swedish presidency announced.

#EPP, and at least six countries - #Germany, #Italy, #Portugal, #Slovakia, #Bulgaria and #Romania - have voiced reservation or opposition.

Such a ban may not come into effect this winter, but at some point it will. It‘s only a matter of time until the proliferation of #electricvehicles pushes the #powersystem to its limits. The #PhaseOut of #combustionengines is urgent. However, assuming that we could just swap in #emobility would be an illusion.

So I am very critical toward the planned END of #cars with #combustionengine by the #EU.
#Electricmobility already has its qualities.
But #combustionengines as well and both concepts also have their disadvantages.
I would be in favour of a competition of concepts and #freedom of choice by the #consumers!

#Electromobility is basically a good thing, but it also has its downsides.
Too fast too much conversion including prohibition of internal #combustionengines I find the wrong way.
It will probably hardly cost #Volkswagen 30.000 jobs, but certainly cost not too few jobs.
Therefore:
Get off the gas and don't become a ban-club, but favour competition of the systems!
