I think I just barely caught #cometc2022e3 last night with my iPhone. I unexpectedly found myself in a great dark sky place without my SLR but had some hope I might catch it. Last night Mars, Aldebaran and the Pleiades made a triangle with the comet 1/4 of the way between Mars and Aldebaran. #astrophotography

You better believe it, Chicago! 🤩 Looks like there will be clear skies for viewing the #GreenComet during its closest point to Earth on 2/1 when it will be brightest for us to see.
Use this map as a reference for how to find the comet each night until it’s gone! #CometC2022E3

Perfect, clear "good seeing" starry night, and the one patch of cloud in the entire sky is exactly where the comet should be. The astronomy gods must be displeased with me.
Well, it is definitely not as spectacular as when I saw Hale-Bopp in late April of 1997.
And me upon realizing the faint fuzzy star, that I’ve been looking at for several nights in a row, which the binoculars cannot quite focus on, is the comet:

It still eludes me, yet I did manage to see STARLINK-1973 pass through Draco and Ursa Minor tonight.
Uncooperative weather, looking in the wrong place in the sky for consecutive nights, having Stellarium set to the wrong time zone and I am here:
