One of the most successful butterflies in lowland England and Wales, the Comma butterfly has been expanding its range at more than 6 miles a year for some time now. Running near St Boswells, I saw my first this afternoon.

If I was dictating, it might look like “It throws in, commas everywhere!” I realize this is a #GrammarGeek #PunctuationGeek #problem, but it’s slowing me down because I have to go back and delete random commas. Adopting a strict rule on an arbitrary piece of style interferes with judgement and common sense. I like the Oxford comma, but it's not always the best option:

An Oxford comma? Or the other sort (which shall not be named, oh no!).
All very well having these deep, meaningful lyrics, but you have to consider the implications! I shall settle for being an ellipsis… much safer…
