Yesterday was Commedia dell'Arte Day so each day this month we'll highlight a character or core element!

Many commedia characters are quick to enact comedic stage combat known as slapstick - in fact named after the harlequin's iconic and noisy bat!

The backbone of commedia is the scenario; instead of a fully fleshed out script, a brief outline of the plot to guide actors to improve the specific dialogue & action of their stock characters. Scenarios can be quickly written, easily adapted, & easily learned, sometimes coming to life on stage before an audience in mere hours!
