Because I'm pretty shure that commercial lease had a very long contract period (5-10+ years) and non-payment and eviction doesn't mean Twitter isn't liable for damages and lost revenue as well as cost to refurbish and re-market that space to a new tennant which may pay less...

I think it's worth looking at the people who are taking advantage of the niche statement and trying to blow it into something that it's not.

Most of these people are terrified of the #CommercialRealEstate bubble that's getting ready to pop (and it will hurt the global #economy when it does). There's a desperation to throw #RemoteWork under the bus and get people back in to fill empty buildings.

ZIRP for a decade led to:
- VCs FA’ing, but never FO’ing
- boom in solutions to non-existent problems (i.e. crypto)
- concentration in commercial real estate, rather than housing

The mismatch of risks, durations, and sensitivity to interest rates takes down SVB, Republic, and Signature.

This is no surprise since buildings are a big part of modern work and culture. Yet, now they have become empty monuments to hybrid and remote work, negatively impacting cities and smaller businesses.

@TheRedElm as a matter of fact, I've seen why some companies do this shit.

They had rented prime real estate in AAA location and gad an escalating commitment to their,overpriced, rented #CommercialRealEstate.

Why else would a company mob a (soon afterwards former!) employee into driving 2x per week into an office 500km south just to sit down in a cubicle and administrate a server that isn't even onsite at all.

And I'm not talking about sone serious security shit but an average cooperaten.
