@eed3si9n I went to the #CommitConf (https://2023.commit-conf.com/) this year in Madrid. IMHO it was one of the biggest confs in Spain, surely 1000+ participants, and with many many MANY talks. It was 2 days and the ticket costed only about €80. So, I'm sorry, but I'm not buying what you're saying. The price €600 is rediculous, and even if I could give the money, I wouldn't give it just to listen to a few chaps talking about how great Scala is. Yes, Dr. Odersky included. Obviously they want to keep Scala in the academia, so they like having academic prices. Well, good luck building a large Scala community with that.

Past weekend I was fortunate enough to participate as one of the hundreds of the audience as #CommitConf '23 in #Madrid, most likely one of the biggest IT conferences in Spain. There were a variety of talks, from cloud, big data, DevOps, and most of the fields that IT practicioners care nowadays. Great practice para mí castellano, also 😅. It was an awesome learning experience, as well as for connecting with interesting and knowledgeable professionals. The speeches will be soon uploaded on their YouTube channel.
