@SwiftOnSecurity is and labour.

Measuring a programmer's efficiency or value with easy like () or () doesn't work.

In fact the latter ones did that for so hard on the @linux / that they were close to getting from the and .

Instead they got called out that their "code cleanup" commits are not appreciated as code is being a priority in !

Bon, Write Freely n'est pas encore sec donc le flux @pylapp@write.as ne publie pas forcément les nouveautés, mais les articles ont été republiés.

Du coup, ça parle et plus encore :yay:

Some people make a commit everytime they change a file; leaving a trail of "changed this file" messages.

While I understand the intuition--small etc--I think it's better to when you reach a point you want to come back to, or when you've accomplished some tangible goal.

This way a commit message can describe a set of changes so that a reviewer can understand their purpose.

Changes that aren't related to the goal; separate commit.

Does all of your commits compile/build successfully, or don't you mind that break your branch for a while? E.g. when you added a new function argument but didn’t update all callers yet.

@DonJones Yeah, 's & are definitely in need of a major overhaul. I often wish I had an extra day every week for contributing to useful projects.

When the eventually goes , I think there will be a huge influx of and on projects like GIMP. At least I really hope so. 🤞

If you want to get a lot of the benefits from , but want to end up with slightly larger in the commit history, @nikoheikkila has a take on that where he uses temporary commits that he squashes, using a handful of nice git aliases.

When doing micro-commits you will create many commits, which is why Arlo's Commit Notation (ACN) is almost a prerequisite to make the commit log scannable and precise. All these commits create some overhead, but, when using ACN, you can optimize your workflow based on risk and intention, like: no need to deploy if there are just "t -" and "d -" commits, no need to run the full test suite locally if only "r -" commits, perhaps skip QA if no "!!" or "**"-commits.
