While sitting in my usual #heron spot I noticed something in the corner of my eye….this #CommonSandpiper.
Moments later I was spooked my a fieldmouse which came out of nowhere and I’m 80% sure jumped at me! I ended up stepping into the #River which scared of the Sandpiper but luckily I had captured this first.

It's been a while since I've seen a Slavonian Grebe in summer plumage and I don't think I've ever seen one so close. Just look at that red eye!! Also on Cheddar Reservoir #Somerset was this male Red-crested Pochard which is keeping a female Mallard company.

A very confused Long Tailed Tit, defending its territory from its own reflection on the Sam Thompson Bridge in Victoria Park and a rare close encounter with a Common Sandpiper at WWT Castle Espie Wetland Centre.

Common sandpipers can be quite flighty, zipping away at the slightest noise or movement, but this little beauty was too busy searching for (and finding) tiny crustaceans to munch on.
