Sometimes I look at my long #R #scripts and just smile because I know what it does and how much time it saves my company.

I always think (and thank) my #mom for getting me started. She took night courses at our local #CommunityCollege to learn all of this stuff when I was in elementary school. She bought our first computer and showed me how to navigate in the command prompt.

I am excited by the possibilities Live Online classes afford! Today, at OTC Richwood Valley we began conversations about ways to include rural students in our College Now program. Students from Sparta, Spokane, Clever, Billings, or wherever could take college classes with other college students without leaving their high school. #access #communitycollege

Final regular #Spanish class at the #CommunityCollege last night. Went well. I feel pretty good about the finals.

Wednesday is the speaking final (and some more review). Monday (last class) is the big grammar / listening / writing final.

In 1 semester of Spanish 1:

* about 1000 vocabulary items

* about 100 or so verbs, but only present tense, so there's that

* maybe about 40 or so grammar structures? Comparative, "be going to", "-ing", "need to", etc.

A very cool thing happened today; I was recognized as the Faculty of the Year at Rock Valley College. The list of colleagues who have won this award over the past 25 years is a Hall of Fame of incredible educators and I'm humbled to join their ranks. I say all the time that education should be aspirational, should open doors, should move toward freedom, individually and collectively. I love the work I do and I'm humbled by this award. #teaching #CommunityCollege
