Climate change is not a fatality.

Woken by the tawny owl at 4am but enjoying the first breakfast outside of the UK er "summer", joined by Blue, Great, Coal Tits, sparrow, Robin, Jackdaw. Bees on the native clover. Wonder if there are any old wives tales that work anymore since #CarbonChange to predict what kind of autumn/winter is ahead. Just composted the smalls haircut hair-wrong time of year to leave it out for nest building?

Here is an example of a small Hugelkultur mount. We built it with our yard waste.

In the bottom layer some rotten wood and fill the gaps with leaves and brown material. Then layer green material like grass clippings. Keep layering.

When you reach the top add some compost and soil. Then cover it with browns.

In about six months it is ready to harvest and it will produce a massive amount of #compost. You can go bury your food scraps in it.

This is why mulching your garden beds with deep compost is so important.

The more you add high-carbon wooden material to your pile the more it will hold water.

Make a compost pile, start your garden journey.

Make enough organic matter so that you can mulch a bed.

Plant a seed and watch it grow. And if you are lucky enough eat some of the best food you have ever eaten.

What was not eaten from the plant put back in the pile.

It is possible to #compost in buckets.

For this make sure you have:
- 1/3 of browns
- 1/3 of greens or food scraps
- 1/3 of soil or compost

Put the browns in the bottom of the bucket it will collect the juices. Then layer the greens chopped finely. Then layer the soil. On top of the soil add a mulch of browns.

It will be ready in 6 months. Don't put a lid keep the bucket in a dry place. Water lightly.
