"AI relies on compute — nanoscopic silicon wafers with tens of billions of transistors. 90% of the world’s most advanced semiconductors are fabricated in one place — TSMC.(...) In the science fiction novel 'Dune', 'spice' is the most important resource in the universe; in an AI economy, compute is the new spice. Somehow, this tiny tropical island has become Arrakis, sitting on the first faultline of the future — compute."

@Soblow you do realize the drivers are for & cards like the & - Series by ?

They don't do any as they're designed to be in a Server Chassis that pushes a lot of air through their cooling fins 24/7 at high static pressure...

They literally die a heat death in regular cases unless one shoves a fan shroud and some on them!

@bennomatic No, but I read the real Compute! all thru early- to mid-80s, it started to suck by '86-ish, stopped being useful in '88.

It does feel a little like has a monopoly on and ? Which in a world where regulators are flexing, feels quite weird. Or am I totally missing something?
I do wonder how the CMA feels about this, let alone non-US governments.

@thefreehunter do you even know how much power can throw at things?

They can literally go like the and / single instances just with exess farts of their datacenters.

So expect them to go full if not by virtue of their computational power and demand bs like "direct peering" and "premium cashing"...

Also you do realize that is literally a front for ?

this dude still holding firm on a g4 iMac with HK speakers. probably needs snow leopard for to run hypercard or a legal database that hasn't been touched since 2008.

or he hasn't used his home office at his vacation home in quite some time 😂

When running a computation, we take arguments and apply them to a Wasm function. This outputs a CID or content identifier. When computation runs over these CIDs, new CIDs are output.

This means we can compute over that content-addressed data without needing a centralized server!

Using capabilities based on UCAN, we can determine who can run different computations. Perhaps one job is better for Bacalhau, another for Fastly, etc.

Maybe you only want computation to happen on a cluster of machines that you and your friends run and no others.

We let IPVM handle the matchmaking and authorization checking so that different systems can work together to complete the job. Learn more: fission.codes/blog/cod-summit-

We're living in a server-centric world. Technical innovations in LLMs and IoT are being held back by lack of infrastructure in emerging markets and the sheer weight of all of the data we're processing. We'll never be able to scale if we don't have location-independent compute over data.

That's why we're building IPVM, a decentralized Wasm-based compute stack that allows deterministic computations to run anywhere, including wherever the data is stored. fission.codes/blog/cod-summit-

Installed the first server in the "mega loop" 😅 The A4000 water blocks and PCI pass-through cut the flow considerably, it will be interesting to see the rate change with additional cards. Air cooled, the GPU cores sat around ~70c under full load. Water cooling has them at ~30c doing the same work (but faster!). Maintains better clocks 👌

Question for the and / crowd - anyone got for based ones (not just US/other with servers in the EU)?

I saw a post about a company with "hobby friendly" prices for their lowest tier some time back but seems I didn't bookmark the toot. 🙃

Still toying with ... Not sure what I was trying to accomplish with this example, or what I was expecting exactly.

I suppose it is a hybrid of / (not with a signed distance field, but with scalar field gradients) and (minus the polygonization). Maybe there is a proper name for it in the graphics circles?

I am using a to create a 3D texture with scalar field values and gradients, and sampling it in the fragment shader (the thing that shoots it with rays 🙂 )

Assuming the compression did not kill it, I kinda liked the quality more than using the conventional marching cubes/tetrahedra. Still, it might be a waste of GPU power on something simple. Also there are some undesirable artefacts that I could not get rid of.

The toy could be found here: ghadeeras.github.io/pages/scal

why do i feel like someone at is using scrollig for trolling in Windows 11?

apparently i need hax to use what calls in my Windows 11 VM.

but it's pretty slick that it's the ARM version of Windows 11 on AppleSilicon via UTM.

i had never used the UUP dumps before to build installation ISO images but i built a Windows 11 image for intel and ARM and it was pretty straightforward. i am also emulating a .
