#today is a very early #SignOn I got very little sleep. Been lying awake, rolling around, and talking to myself for hours. Since I'm up, I'm going to put #debian #gnu #linux onto my Think Penguin machine. At a friend's urging, I'm installing the Testing edition, code named Trixie. It offers a very recent kernel, the #pipewire audio system, and installer improvements, to name a few. On this one, I'll install the GNOME desktop and check for #accessibility improvements. I just updated this installation of Trisquel #GNU #linux 161 packages got upgraded, one got removed, and one new application got installed. It's a #VOIP tool called Jami. When last I played with this tool, I knew of nobody else using it, so, don't know how well it works. An odd thing: when I restarted, after the update, I found that the volume was at 100% for the talking login greeter. After I logged in, the volume was set to what I want for Dave. What else is changed or broken? This is, after all, a beta. #computers #ComputerPlay #HouseKeeping

A friend has installed the latest Debian Testing (Bookworm) onto his Del Latitude, and reports all hardware recognized and working. I will install it onto my Think Penguin J4, and expect no issues. The Think Penguin is made specifically to run without nonfree firmware needed. The J4 now has a derivative of PureOs. #GNU #Linux #Debian #PureOS #ComputerPlay #installations
