Had not checked out #comradery in a while - seems they have accepted at least 2 new artists ( according to toots I saw on that hashtag. Also just boosted them)

Besides the very worthwhile #ethical #payment / #donations projects in development #Liberapay & #Comradery (which are both more oriented towards recurrent payments like #Patreon) - are there any equivalent projects for "tip jars", one-off donations & purchasing of merch etc? From my initial research, #KoFi sounds like it's the closest option. Are there any others with more of a focus on #community & #ethics that people can recommend?

#FlashbackFriday - ANZAC Day 2020

Despite the lockdowns, the spirit of the ANZACs lived on in Melbourne in 2020 with a new initiative; the driveway dawn service. Needless to say, I was quick to get on board with this.
I invited my neighbours & they were more than happy to get involved. I made some poppies, digitally delivered some home-printouts to my neighbours, then trimmed rosemary from the bush in my backyard & hand delivered it to my neighbours by leaving it on their mailboxes with a little note.
I then organised digital downloads of the last post & a reading of 'The Ode of Remembrance' & placed speakers down a few streets so the audio could reach as many people as possible. Finally, I set up a cauldron at an intersection so that people from 3 different streets had a focal point for the service.
On the dawn of ANZAC Day, I lit the cauldron, turned on the speakers, waited for everyone to walk to the front of their driveways with a lit candle & began the service in unison with the rest of the state.
It was a solemn reminder of the importance of being there for one another & that despite our challenges, we still had each other. It was a reminder to always be there for one another; in the good times & the bad & it was a show of mateship & solidarity.

@Tathar @mrzaius Not necessarily, where #Comradery is a special purpose tool with a very narrow set of use-cases, #Convene is designed to allow a small set of maintainers to support a wide set of users with varied use cases.

It serves kind of like a "web-aware" Operating System, with interoperability between existing web-services a key component.

5. If we use a platform, it should have a valid and lasting, sustainable business model. It should not be #vcFunded . idealy, the owners should not be able to sell it.

The platform being owned by the creators (and consumers) using it, would be great. A #coop model might do that, #platformCoop is the right term I think ( think examples like #fairmondo, #fairBnB or #comradery .)

Also, I would not need a platform like #bandcamp at all: if artists are fine with it, I'l paypal them 10 € or whatever and they can e-mail me a download-link to the #mp3 or #ebook or whatever...
