@techsuppork it's all exhausting tbh.

The past few years I went from:

Undiagnosed.

Realizing I have a problem and seeking diagnosis.

Getting that diagnosis.

Trying to manage the medication's ability to exasperate my anxiety.

Trying to manage friends and family that don't understand the disorder and the changes in my mood and habits I was going through.

Accepting that I am not and these "friends" didn't want to even try to understand.

Cutting them out of my life and being personally lonely, while at the same time realizing I am not alone in my thoughts, habits and behavior and accepting that I'm different. I am different, but millions of others are different too and none of us have to feel alone in our "craziness" that is our brains.

I'm going to have to just accept the reality that doesn't work particularly well for me. Why is that so hard to acknowledge? Now I need to decide whether to go back to which at least kind of works, or keep trying to find something better. Anything but Vyvanse or wellbutrin. Are Concerta and Ritalin LA so similar as to make trying LA pointless? Since They have the same active ingredient, I'd guess yes.

So, one week and a bit in with and I'm a bit frustrated. Not sure what I expected the meds to do but they don't seem to be doing much apart from raising my blood pressure and giving me palpitations from time to time. And a headache when I crash after 12 hours or so. Yes, I am a bit more focused and find it easier to concentrate on one thing but I still can't just 'get up and go', it's still like wading through treacle to get things started. Ah well...

Heads up that the Adderall shortage has wandered over to the Concerta/Ritalin/Methylphenidate side of the fence. It may depend on your dose and whether it’s extended release. But my pharmacy’s provider has no idea when they will have more 36mg ER in. Not sure about 54 (which I was just going to see if I could move to).

@Staceys55 That goes to show how different things work in each country. My doctor didn't prescribe me concerta because of what it would cost me, but a neutral brand so that it would not cost me so much. Doctor and pharmacist say they work the same as . But what triggered my toot is that apart from treating my ADD symptoms, it also has had a massive positive impact on the depression I had. And I wonder if happens often (if at all?) that a depression is treated with adhd medication..

Does anyone have experience with getting prescribed extended release (still often referred to as ) off label? So without an or diagnoses.

For me it works wonders on my mood in general, mental energy, concentration/focus, fatique. Just to be clear, I don't get high from it. It just allows me to live a life as normal as possible..

I have a theory.

There are some of us who are diagnosed who can’t get a diagnosis for and some of us who have ADHD who can’t get an autism diagnosis because there are similarities between the two and one can sometimes be used to explain away the other.

However, you can only be prescribed Central Nervous System (CNS) stimulants if you have a diagnosis of ADHD not autism. I think this needs to change.

/ decided to categorise both these diagnoses as separate disabilities, when in reality the two are linked (lived experience opinion).

I am pretty certain (nothing is ever 100%) that I’d benefit from as my two sons do but unless I can find a who can really understand the complexity of neurodivergence (and it’s varied presentations), I will continue to struggle with everyday simple tasks and be denied the opportunity to try CNS stimulants.

Is there any large scale on the use of CNS stimulants for Autistic people?

Höre gerade das Weihnachtslied "Feliz Navidat" youtu.be/N8NcQzMQN_U
(, Wirkstoff u. A. in , , ) .

This, and people being offended about the so called over medication children with attention span disorder undergo, that it’s so outrageous, that we don’t let kids be kids, that we all do this so big pharma can sell more drugs to people, that we are an evil capitalist system that puts too much pressure on people so they perform at the expense of their mental health (which in a way is true, but is totally irrelevant with the problem), to put it plainly, the message that naturopaths, internet boomers, and some spokesperson of a Quebec political party (looking at you Gabriel Nadeau Dubois).

of course each case is different, but if I take focus pills, it’s not just because “I was just a kid”, or I’m “just distracted sometimes”, it’s really because I legitimately cannot focus without taking concerta. Like, I start doing something, then 5 seconds after oh look there a sound, or here’s a totally irrelevant thought to set you off track.

When you use the let kids be kids (tm) discourse, you’re pushing a toxic narrative that will bring children away from the medication and guidance they really need. You are making this worse. And the last thing that doctors will do is push for more drugs when a problem show up ahead. This is what my experience of the health system tells me.
