At the moment it works like this:

- post im social media with the hashtag #ConfBuddy (best also use the hashtag of conference & in mastodon tag this account)
- at conferences, wear a badge (*) to visible indicating to people you're open to be talked to
- if you see someone with a badge, go say Hi! (If you're comfortable doing that, of course)

(*) you get then at conferences that participate or I can send you one!

@deborahh sorry if that sounds a bit vague 😅 connection people through Conference Buddy worked to a big part through Twitter as a tool, so it's a bit hard to say how it will work best in the future. But you can reach out to the community by making a post that you're looking for a #ConfBuddy on a conference that I'll share here and on the bird app & hopefully it gets into the timeline of someone from the community attending the conference.

@ConfBuddy How to spread the word to those that need a #ConfBuddy so that they feel safe to attend an event in the first place.

Feels somehow like a Chicken and Egg situation. You learn about it at events that you fear to go to because you don't know of it... 😕

So strategies to reach those in need would be awesome!
