Really interesting perspectives from a longitudinal study at Nottingham Trent on #belonging. Specifically looking at cohorts that are traditionally identified in APP and other measures, they are seeing student success as defined by those students. For them, it encompasses successfully acquiring of skills and networks, not just a "good mark". Something I feel like lots of us in #HigherEd know but maybe don't act on yet. #ConferenceThoughts

We're now hearing from Lizzie King and student partners about how important trust and partnership are to enable #belonging. Down to pointing out it is easier to build relationships out of the lecture theatre, around smaller tables that break down power dynamics inherent in less neutral spaces. #Raise23 #ConferenceThoughts

Apparently walked 13,000+ steps between the first panel and final plenary of today’s teaching and learning conference. Too wired to sit through anything (was one of the organisers), but good to know my need to always be in motion at least had some benefit. #ConferenceThoughts

Just sitting in a presentation where there is a 20% difference in attainment between white and non-white students. (No other detail on cohorts given). That is….significant. Things should have ground to a halt to sort significant.
Edited to say they DID tackle this. Now down below 5%. Includes quite a bit of extra staff resource, especially when teaching.
