So let me be absolutely clear: censorship should never be equated with moderation and free speech never includes hate speech.

This is a great list of encouragements. I love the way it reinterprets CW to mean “content wrapper” because that is ultimately what they’re used for. It’s an umbrella that includes “content warning” but does not stop there. We are building a #ConsentCulture when we give people the room to choose. Consideration for each other is key.

@lianmakesthings @realms I like the idea of relationship management software, but for remembering details about my friends, family, acquaintances, and coworkers because my long-term memory storage mechanism is horked.

But the “little black book” writ large (after seeing the beginning of the movie Vengeance, especially) is skeevy. If we existed in a #ConsentCulture it would land differently in the collective conscience.

@Teyrnon @ThunderousProphet Depends on if it’s phrased as “If I may offer my two cents” then waiting for an acceptance of the offer or “Here’s my two cents” knowing full well that you won’t actually pay hard currency and then barging ahead because your ideas are worth more than their time. Very existential. The version that individuals are familiar with is indicative of whether they grew up or exist in a #ConsentCulture or not. It’s social contract vs objectification.

"Needing" a cw can be for your own reasons that you determine, whether they're super serious, or just because. Needing Christmas cw'd doesn't have to be because Christmasy stuff brings flashbacks about when a family member died or other deeply serious reasons like that. (That's bound to be super common, if you think about it.) It's also okay to say "no thanks" to things just because you personally don't like them. It's okay to ask for a cw because you like it best if you can opt into it when or if you want. It's important to be able to do that, because that's #ConsentCulture.
