Today was a day.

I stepped out to the library to read some newspapers and on the way I passed a fellow doing injection drugs and another tweaking crystal meth. On the way back, I passed the town SWAT team at a house.

These things don't 'just happen', they are the result of bad public policy. I can remember the year that the Conservatives under Mike Harris cut welfare and the beggars showed up downtown for the first time in my life. They've never left.

It’s the difference between the finite past and the infinite frontier - between ‘what is or has been’ vs a universe of new and interesting possibilities.
