Ran into my first real "Ukraine truther" on here (infosec.exchange) who seems to really believe "the US manufactured the war in the Ukraine by backing Nazis in Ukraine for 75 years to directly benefit the investments of JP Morgan and BlackRock" and other conspiracy theory word salad.

Eventually Mastodon as a whole is going to need to have a serious dialogue about political disinformation and political conspiracy theories. Running away from the political disinformation and political conspiracy theories of Twitter didn't work, as their true believers and propaganda accounts eventually followed us over to Mastodon. Either we're going to need to get serious about educating people against political disinformation, or we're going to have to accept that banning political disinformation/propaganda accounts from our communities might help protect those in our communities that might be vulnerable to disinformation or conspiracy theories. Doing nothing and pretending the problem doesn't exist isn't a solution and it's only going to gradually get worse.
