In 2021, @TidBITS had a positive article about Consumer Cellular. After another issue with T-Mobile, I decided to try them.
Due to a problem at T-Mobile and a problem I created by not paying attention, I spent 2.5 hours today untangling a new plan and line transfer.
Over three phone calls, the different Consumer Cellular reps were thoughtful, informative, and proactive in communicating what needed to or would happen. (1 of 2)

In a related note, shout out to #ConsumerCellular. I pay $20 a month for the exact service I paid att $60 for. Also, excellent customer service which employs US workers.
Contact with them must be synchronous during their business hours & their online "chat with agent" appears to be indefinitely broken, so literally—in the 21st Century—the ONLY way to contact them is by phone call to speak to a random CSR.
So yeah #ConsumerCellular does not have my business anymore because worse even than the absurdity of having to speak to a rep to make even the smallest account changes is the fact that they seem to intentionally make it difficult to communicate issues.
Small "victory" perhaps, but it WAS satisfying to fill out the survey they sent about why I stopped using them with "Your new policies suck and I have told friends, family, and total strangers how obnoxious it is and that I would not recommend #ConsumerCellular because it was not just inconvenient but I discovered in the process that there is not even a customer support email (I scoured the internet) so you appear to be trying to make it a hassle for your customers to get any support."
For once in my life I actually followed through on a threat to stop giving somebody my money. 😜
#ConsumerCellular made "security" changes that require you to call and wait on hold for a representative to even simply update your email address. I told them it was ridiculous, and immediately switched carriers.
Apparently #ConsumerCellular is doing a add a line for free thing this month:

And has #cricket been pretty good? I'm thinking about switching to them or #consumerCellular for lower prices, but I'm not sure if it's worth it.
