For the interested, this design is probably not appropriate for warm, moist environs. Here in central Ohio (Zone 5B), this would be a lot of effort for a single year of use, since everything rots here. I've used similar designs with whole & split logs (readily available here, takes care to move). The logs themselves turn to soil *eventually* (decade-scale).
