Thinking more about my situation with my contract being cut short I'm only really going to be a week out of pocket this month.
I'm handing over to the new guy next week, then I'm at a loose end for a week before heading off to Italy for 10 days - and can't bill if I'm not working.
So basically I have three weeks or so to secure another contract before I feel any great impact.

Hmmm - the joys of contracting. After engaging with a client on a 6 month contract I find myself looking for another contract after just 6 weeks.

I was providing cover after a couple of their devs left them but it appears that they've now hired replacement and one of them is immediately available - so I drew the short straw and am the first to be released.

Not fantastic news but hey, #contracting right.

A month, a week, and a day since my last contract ended. I started looking for a new one about two weeks ago after the mother-in-law's funeral.

However, the contract/freelance market is SLOW at the moment in the UK...

No panicking yet though. I can be off about 4 months with the business savings as-is - but I'd rather find something soon. That said, I'm taking the time to get re-certified in #AWS and #GCP, and also learning about #AI / #ML as it's all the rage at the moment.
