Here's an oft forgot device. Along with new guitar controllers for Rock Band 2, Harmonix released a few peripherals as well. The fog and light machines, and this overdrive pedal that plugs into the bottom of the guitar controller like a real pedal does on a real guitar. It's only function is to activate overdrive when you step on the button, but this is so you feel like a real guitarist. This was supported on RB3 guitars as well.

Following the Joy-cons from last week is the Splatoon 2 Pro Controller for #NintendoSwitch. Naturally, it has all of the functionality as the Joy-cons but in a much more ergonomic form factor and has a proper D-pad. The battery lasts much longer on a charge and the joysticks are a little larger as well. While special Joy-cons aren't uncommon, there are more designs for the Pro Controller from the two Monster Hunter ones to even a Xenoblade Chronicles design.

Getting back into #RockBand lately has been very fulfilling, and now I must share this cool bass guitar controller for #Xbox360 back from the RB2 days. They call it the Fender Precision Bass Replica and what's unique is the lack of the whammy bar in exchange for a dial instead and a split strum bar for easier finger upstrums like how real bassists often play. It also features a longer neck than the normal Stratocaster to complete the realistic feel and a toggle for RB1 use.

It was inevitable that I'd bring up the #NintendoSwitch Joy-Cons so here's the Splatoon 3 pair that only comes with the special edition OLED. A pretty revolutionary step in Nintendo's controller design, they can be used together or independently for multiplayer, set on the Switch or wirelessly. Even more functionality in included here such as NFC, IR sensors, and improved haptic vibration. Given that they use Bluetooth, you can even use them on PC and mobile devices too.

Felt like a good time to bring up the Forza Horizon edition #Xbox series controller that released in parity with Forza Horizon 5. Up front is the eye catching semi-translucent shell with vibrant pink, blue, white, and yellow everywhere. Not shown here though are the black grip textures on the back side which mimic the feel of leather on a steering wheel, which honestly feel incredible. It also came with a download code for a special car but the controller is the main event.
Had the new #Xbox controller :controller_xb1: in my cart and sat there for a minute thinking. Couldn’t do it. Couldn’t pull the trigger for over $90 dollars😔
What’s your thoughts? The whole idea of built from recycled parts is really cool. I do like the colors too🍃

It's been a bit but I still want to highlight a modern staple of controller design: the #Xbox360 controller! It's become essentially the default layout for games, even on PC because of its wide compatibility. Personally, it took me a long time to adjust to the shape and size (I still think it's too big) but it's clear that most players have no issues with the design. The One and Series controllers are improvements for sure, but there is no going wrong with this icon.
Finally after three orders! A lost package, missing half of a new order, they got to come together 💖💚🎮 Gorgeous #DeepPink #VelocityGreen

@sudaksis When I got back into PC gaming a few years ago I was lucky to have this controller in the house and used the hell out of it in Windows and macOS.
While I now have two Xbox Core controllers that I play with more often, I still find times that I choose to use this controller instead. Notably, when playing games in the bedroom at night as its buttons are very quiet and less likely to disturb my wife.
@sudaksis I had a ton of fun when I was a kid using this atomic purple controller that came with my N64 to play games like Golden Eye, Perfect Dark, and Ocarina of Time.
I don't love using it these days but it's definitely special to me.
While there's still a little time left until the #WiiU eShop closes, it's worth noting that one of the best features is that the gamepad can be played and displayed on just the gamepad alone! The screen isn't as high resolution as the Switch but considering that it's all rendered on the console itself, it performs amazingly well for a wireless screen. The size may look big but it feels very comfortable to hold and likely influenced the Steam Deck. Truly a unique way to play.
While I still believe there were more excellent designs of Xbox One controllers, I think the 20th Anniversary Xbox Series controller is firmly amongst the greatest #Xbox designs to date. Like the PlayStation 4 500 Million Edition, they chose to have a translucent shell to allow the internals to be visible. The shell is also a cool smoky gray color that complements the green accents quite well and there was even an accompanying wallpaper for the Xbox Series dashboard.
In the Wii generation, there were a couple of different pro controllers, one more like a SNES and one like that but with handles. In the #WiiU generation, however, #Nintendo opted for a more standard controller shape. While the glossy plastic was a fingerprint magnet, it did feel solid, if a bit light, and had decent joysticks. The placement of the joysticks is unique by having both placed higher up, which comes down to preference if you'd enjoy it. Also works well on PC.

Nathaniel Bandy apparently felt the same and put out a video showing all of the different PlayStation controllers lol
