@bryanhansel @slmcgerik @jrod3737 I'm just seeing this hashtag now. Super excited. I live in #CookCountyMN maybe 30% of the time, and I'm always up for hearing what's going on. I'm generally snowboarding in the winter and hiking in the summer.

I think it was @bryanhansel I was chatting with regarding local hashtags (#CookCountyMN). I realized I am the only one apparently using #SouthStPaul.

Hashtags are important because they allow us to search across federated instances. Searching on 'Minnesota' does not work but #Minnesota does.

@slmcgerik @jrod3737 #mnastodon gets 36-40 toots per week and a significant number of those include #Minnesota. I'd say that hashtag is nearly dead. Everyone should move to #Minnesota unless it gets too big. It's 100-200 per week now, so it's small. #CookCountyMN is 1 per week and that's your toot. 🙂 There just aren't enough Minnesotans here to build what Twitter had when it came to MN weather. I don't think this is going to replace (anytime soon) what we had there for weather.
