If you like cooking shows, don’t sleep on Crime Scene Kitchen!

I just watched half of the first episode of a cooking show, and then had to stop - he (the chef) had cooked the entire meal in the first third of the show, and it very quickly became clear that he has Secret Slaves to do his washing up for him. I wouldn't use that many pans for one dish if I'd lost my mind!

The last time I got that irritated at a chef, it was Maggie Beer (who would prefer to be called a cook, I believe), who was using ingredients that at the time I'd never even heard of, let alone had access too (this being in the long-ago times before the internet was available on one's phone. Also, that was the last time I bothered to watch a cooking show.).

This is why I usually stay away from cooking shows.

A professional chef on a Netflix cooking show complaining about supposed undercooked chicken: "There's a reason there's no chicken sushi."

Me, an absolute layperson who just happens to really be into food and cooking, yelling at the screen: "BUT THERE IS!"

For real. Chicken sashimi is a thing. In Japan. Needs to be done correctly but it's a thing. And I think a chef should know that.

I wasn't sure if I was going to like "Samurai Gourmet", but I gave it a shot and was pleasantly surprised. I'm trying to drag out that "Midnight Diner" feeling. This wasn't it, but it was touching and entertaining.
