Reasonably politics free conversation with a lot of emotion built into it! I find the people who don't cook shut down when the topic comes up though. I don't know why!

This is my new experiment for camping cooking. I want to see if this will enable me to heat the entire bottom of a cook pot when using a smaller stove.
I may try frying an egg in a titanium frying pan on the Ikea drainage bin stove later. As you give me a good idea of how well the heat is dispersed across the pan.
Am surprised by how sturdy the disc is at this thinness.
Accidentally knocked a sunburst pattypan off the plant so it joined one of the cueball zucchini, and a handful of other garden veg in a pan with some meat, mirin, soy, honey, and roast garlic.

With the last batch, I put down some nocino/nocello, but these are a week later, and the black walnuts (there are both black and English walnuts in the first pic) were already starting to form shells, and now you can see the green pith starting to shrink and show the shell outlines.
The next images are the nocino/nocello when it first went in [2]; two hours later [3]; and today.
Black walnuts make for a super dark liqueur.

My hatred of wet raisins is a texture thing, which is diminished by chopping them so they can't bloat.
If it's instant oatmeal that doesn't cook for too long: I'm okay with them because they generally stay dry.
Overnight oatmeal?
Fuck no. Bloated raisins are like wingless flies.
And NEVER in butter tarts.
Surprise raisins are going to get someone stabbed one day.

A day late, but just went in the oven.
I canned a bunch of za sauce at the end of summer when the tomatoes were at their peak, and used garden herbs.
Toppings: roast garlic, sausage, mozzarella fresca and regular, parmesan.
Sadly missing mushrooms as I have been lazy and haven't been tending mushroom buckets inside this winter.
Preparing fish and chips for dinner, this is the way.
I don't know if this "trying to swear less" thing is working for me.
I just told someone:
Go smoke an onion, you jack hole.

One of my favorite things to make on a chilly winter evening is this cabbage galette from Joanne Harris' "My French Kitchen." Steamed savoy cabbage, bacon, shallots, parsley - it hits all those rich and smoky hearty notes. I depart from the recipe by subbing in smoked Gouda for some of (or all of, if you want the ovo-lacto vegetarian version) the bacon.

Some days, when I'm feeling ambitious, I will make both the stock/broth and the bread for the top. Not today.
I made 3L of veg BTB (Better Than Bouillon; for those who have yet to discover this most excellent cheat code, go get some, trust me), put in all but about 500ml of the onions and juice into it, et voila.
About 5L of the second best onion soup you'll ever make. (The best will be if you make the broth from scratch, but the difference is so slight, the effort isn't always worth it.)
