54 years ago today the patrons of the Stonewall Tavern in New York, followed the example of the 1960 Cooper Do-nut Riots in Los Angeles and the 1966 Compton Cafeteria Riots in San Francisco, and stood up against police harassment and rioted for 6 days, kicking off the modern LGBT Rights Movement
