Got a cover placement tool and it helped a lot, I think.

I don't know if I'll keep this to use as a watercolor sketchbook or if I'll sell it on consignment, but I wanted to make it and now it exists!

Finally binding my new #ArtJournal today. Right now I have total mayhem in the form of four needles and two six-foot lengths of waxed thread grabbing onto anything within reach. The stamping on the covers could be better -- but I decided I'd rather be working in it rather than endlessly fussing over getting it right. And let's be real here, the covers will be trashed by the time I fill it up. #BookBinding #CopticBinding #yay @adhdcrafters

The art journal I just finished filling up is pretty much a Coptic binding mistakes-were-made case study -- stitching looked fine at the time but turned out to be too tight for how much stuff I glued to the pages, wtf was I thinking with the single long span of thread, etc. and the binding is under some pretty severe strain now.
