@solarbear Depending on your specific needs and local options, this might be something a copyshop could whip up for you.
(At least something at #CopyJob it would have been possible, so I'm extrapolating for other copyshops.)
You might need to provide the dot-grid files for printing, but I think there are templates for that out there. (Worst case I could also whip up some quick layout for you.)
Alternatively there is some on etsy, I think.
In the Before Time, at my old #CopyJob, I made some #GlitchBooks with shunga images, ie. old-timey japanese woodcut porn. These were then gifted to various friends over the years.
A few days ago, a friend who got one of those asked if I can make them a new one.
This is all part of a bigger project I call "Get of my ass and actually do something with all that glitch stuff", so you can expect some more changes, like finally opening up that Ko-Fi shop, allowing people who, for weird reasons, like my stuff and wanna give me money for it to do so.
There will be old stuff (#GlitchBooks left over from #CopyJob) as well as new stuff, like those nifty mini-sticker packs.
The knowledge that #CopyJob can now do direct-to-fabric t-shirt printing is seriously tempting me to try and have a #GlitchArt shirt made while I'm here.
Bit bummed that I probably won't get to actually print/cut/assemble these here at formerly- #CopyJob but I'm pretty sure it won't get ready in time.
(Probably could get it done, but it would be a pain and I don't feel like it.)
Taking stock of my remaining #glitchbook stuff and ... Wow, I have more left than I thought.
(Also makes me really miss #copyjob. Printing and making all of those was a lot of fun.)
Since there is a tiny-but-not-zero amount of people who will, now and then, mention that they wouldn't mind giving me money for #glitchbook stuff, I've been thinking about what I could offer at the moment.
Without #copyjob, my infrastucture is limited. But, right now, I could do buttons and I could do booklet-type thingies. Also digital stuff, obviously.
(If I ordered some sticker paper, I could do those as well, I suppose, in a DIY-PITA kinda way.)
None of that in particularly high quality, but I do have access to an ok-ish color laser printer, so there is that.
(Though I really need to order some toner if I want to get serious there...)
So I could try a set of #glitchpride buttons, I could try small, stapled notebooks, I could try digital only comissions.
Hmmm...
#glitchpride #copyjob #glitchbook
Sadly they mostly did not come out as well as I had hoped. Nowhere near as good as #CopyJob.
(What, an old printer haphazardly serviced by a bunch of self learned anarchists prints worse that a new one serviced by a fulltime master technician with 40+ years of experience?!? Shocking.)
Way cheaper, tho.
In related news, I have to be at #CopyJob in two hours and I am NOT feeling it. :blobsad:
Ugh, one of these days I'll have to write a rant about how the need to print and bind thesis copies is the tip of academia's classist shitberg (shit iceberg) and the various ways professors and universities manage to make it worse.
:blobangery:
Today at #CopyJob we learned how to use the "make custom-printed hardcovers" machine(s).
Still need practice and I'm not 100% sold on the result, aesthetically, but well see.
When you mostly bind academic thesis stuff, you become acutely aware of how fad-ish research is.
(Every book with "blockchain" in its title takes, like, a year off my life.)
<2 hours of sleep. Bus decided not to come. Now 6 hours of #CopyJob. (Which I'm gonna be late for.)
I'll be honest, today looks pretty shit so far.
#CopyJob Heute: Männer die auf Putzequipment starren.
(Mmmmmm, Kunststoffreiniger.)
