98 followers · 1494 posts · Server socel.netInteresting. I planted some blue (flint) corn to use for making corn masa and in a different area of our property, quite a ways from the blue corn, I planted sweet yellow corn for just eating off the cob.
Just harvested some ears of the sweet corn and one of them had some blue kernels on it. Obviously some blue corn pollen made it's way to those cob silks. I think I'm gonna dry this cob and grow those hybrid kernels next year. See what the hybrid produces.

We only had 0.02" of rain on average last week across #Missouri. That put downward pressure on #corn and #soybean conditions, even as corn harvest began.

Picked most of the rest of the #corn yesterday and sent it to work with Hubby. My #zucchini plants are infested with squash bugs and are looking spent. The #tomato plants seem to be slowing down their production.
Meanwhile, the #bellpeppers, #pepperoncinis, and #poblanos are ramping up and the #watermelons have just set fruit! #GardeningMastodon

As for rowcrops, #corn and #soybean quality also improved following last week's heavy rains. #Cotton also made swift progress on boll development, which had been trailing for much of the season.
