A severe thunderstorm watch has been added to #Auckland, #GreatBarrierIsland, and #Coromandel - starting from 5 am and running into late Friday evening.

There’s a moderate risk of big rain of 25-40mm/hr, which is enough to cause flash flooding, as well as compounding existing damage due to the already sodden ground.

No changes to the other weather warnings or watches in place

A 9pm update from @metservice brings us updated weather warnings, with Orange Heavy Rain Warnings in place for #Coromandel, #Gisborne, and #HawkesBay overnight and into Friday.

This is on top of our already sodden ground, so if you’re concerned at all please prepare your go-bag and prepare to head out.
