Bulk #RNAseq of 654 patients with advanced carotid plaques. This data yielded five plaque types that correlate with clinical representation. And add an additional layer of information on top of the standard #histology.

Fascinating follow-up study finds that invasive therapies (e.g. angioplasty) for #patients with stable #coronaryArteryDisease (#CAD) do not result in greater long-term survival than do non-invasive therapies (e.g. #medication).

Here's the thing though: those treated with invasive therapies were less likely to die of #heart disease, but more likely to die from other causes, such as #cancer. So weird.
