When I was a kid I assumed that all these massive #companies were cold, calculating and knew exactly what they were doing.

But as I've gotten older it's become obvious that they are just dumb, bumbling monsters that have (through luck) gotten big enough that all their stupid mistakes aren't enough to bring them down.

13/39 Short term advantage: incentivize the sales team to make the sale regardless of tactics. It attracts the wrong kind of sales people. They cajole and sleaze and lie their way into some good sales. Numbers go up. Quarterly results go up. Stock goes up. CEO makes a lot of money.

Long term disadvantage: customers figure out they're being screwed with. Again, sales start declining in the future, but that's after management cashes out, so it happens.

I guess some youngin only discovered her because she’s on the Umbrella Academy soundtrack, but that doesn’t change the name of the song.

Admittedly my first exposure to her was via the Blues Brothers. But in my defense I was 3 when that came out. 😆
