Physicist today hate to admit it, but #physics started as branch of @philosophy - not as the "hard #science" it's considered to be today (even if it's speculation). Personally, I find the parallels between 17th and 18th "mos geometricus" and modern physics striking (~ #Hilbert).

To my surprise #Kant also speculated about #cosmogony - and his ideas are pretty close to what we take as a scientific fact today.

Just received the most marvelous book mail: a used copy of “National Geographic Picture Atlas of Our Universe” by Roy A Gallant from 1980. This book is the entire reason I know anything about space.
