Reworking the data layer of #FieldWork to use a non relational database (#Couchbase) instead of #CoreData because the data really fits the document style better than table based. Then I’m going to start mapping out how the whole file management side of things works because that feels important to get right

Is it just me, or do the #couchbase docs kinda suck?

Or maybe I'm just looking for something that doesn't exist.

I'm using the #DotNet package they release, and there just doesn't seem to be an "easy" way to just dump an object into it. Like, I can't even figure out hot to give it a Json string (which I'm fine with doing, that's would be helpful, actually) to store as an object, it seems like you have to build all their records from scratch?

Any advice?

not knowing the backstory between #CouchDB & #CouchBase kept nagging at me, so i did a little google spelunking. Here's the short version:

#CouchDB's creator Damien Katz formed a company called CouchIO after CouchDB became an #Apache project.

CouchIO offered hosting + nice to haves like #Lucene, geospacial indexing, etc.

CouchIO renamed themselves as CouchOne and released a mobile dev platform based on CouchDB and optomized for mobile devices.
