The father & husband of #MarieDeCoucy were both captured at the #BattleOfNicopolis & died in subsequent plague outbreaks: Enguerrand in prison, Henri on the way home after ransom. Marie inherited vast estates, including the mighty castle of #Coucy, then spent years in land disputes with her stepmother & sisters as well as powerful outsiders.
