A morning run past a long dead house
We ran up to Minto and past the now demolished (1992) Minto House via the golf course. All that is left is an ornate bridge over the burn and a wee graveyard. A good regular run though a mix of road, woods and moorland, 14k in total. And no rain - it can't be summer!

I am not sure that they’ve ever released a less than good album, but this is strong with both hits & Kinks-vibes. #TheUniversal, #Stereotypes, & even #CountryHouse - which has just the most beautiful harmonies & that bridge/break.
This is the ‘23 reissue which I’ve compared with the OG. Stick with the reissue - it’s clean, it sounds great.

Alnwick Castle, Northumberland, UK
Known today especially for its gardens, Alnwick Castle was first buyilt in 1096, possibly on the site of an earlier Roman fort. It was rebuilt in the 1300s and again in the 1700s. The same family has lived there, Percy, since around 1300.

Cholmondeley Castle.
It’s pronounced “Chumley” and the same family has been living there since 1066 or so (they must be getting old by now).
The castle was built in the early 19th century, replacing an older wooden hall. Sorry, i don’t know if it has a dungeon :) The chapel (i think on the right) is much older.

This morning, I had the pleasure of visiting Kilgobbin House, #Adare, #Ireland, with students of my #History elective course: 'The #CountryHouse in Ireland: class, culture, and gender'.
We met the wonderfully hospitable and very generous Lady Dunraven, who gave us a brilliant tour of the house and gardens, and treated us to a delicious lunch.
We had a great time and were reluctant to leave!
