Judge judges our 110th judge has been confirmed less than an hour ago. We are reshaping the judiciary in our own image what's left is to fix the MAGA Supreme Court #courtsystem
It took all day to do jury selection for what’s expected to be a two day trial for a relatively simple case. And while I can imagine some streamlining, in general I think that entire process was necessary (even if it did result in the prosecutor saying “no” to me :).
Amendment VI
In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial
This is obviously not happening. Furthermore, archaic bail laws leave defendants sitting in jail for *years* awaiting trial.
And yet we keep hiring more police who, needless to say, keep arresting more people.
This doesn’t scale. It can’t possibly scale. It’s insane.
Despite push back from residents and local leaders, #Mississippi’s state legislature is moving forward with an unconstitutional bill that would remove #Jackson residents’ rights to #elect judges and prosecutors. Instead, the #CourtSystem would be constructed of state appointees.
@msfreepress has a great article on the changes that are one step closer to becoming a sad reality:
