Got my fifth COVID vaccine today. Sat down for the obligatory 15 minutes and the first bit of news I read was 117 people died from COVID-19 in Australia last week. Is it just me or does it appear this is a serious disease in Australia? 🤔 #COVID19SK
Mask requirements at #Saskatchewan health facilities save lives & guarantee access equity for immunocompro & high-risk patients & visitors. They prevent mortality from in-hospital acquired #covid19sk.
On Tuesday, the SK govt abruptly removed the hospital mask req. province-wide. PLEASE SIGN & SHARE our petition aimed at Sask MLAs & Health Authority to reverse this outrageous decision. More actions to follow: #CovidIsNotOver

UPDATE: the "Journal of the Plague Year(s)" installation by Betsy Rosenwald and Dawna Rose has been extended to March 5. If you're near #yxe and can go, it's worth going to see! (#maskup with a good mask of course)

Finally got a chance this weekend to see the "Journal of the Plague Year(s)" installation by artists Betsy Rosenwald and Dawna Rose. Funny, biting & witty paintings on cardboard since March 20, 2020, chronicling our intersecting crises, in which #covid19sk thoughts & protest figure prominently. (Some of these placards were even used in protests to restore #publichealth measures in Saskatchewan). Show is over sadly, but there's still a great exhibition booklet.
.@CarlaFlogan@twitter.com @SaskSafer@twitter.com @_mallamalla@twitter.com @carolyn02892524@twitter.com are asking a great question: How come improved ventilation hasn't taken off as a #covid19sk mitigation strategy? Expense, offloading #COVID19 risk to individuals (as official state policy) are obviously huge reasons— 🧵/1
Emerging COVID research tells us that repeated COVID infection is bad for us. Before/during holidays, we need to do the best we can to not get (re)infected, or infect/re-infect family, friends & strangers. The forecast from COVID-19 Resources Canada (@COVID_19_Canada@twitter.com) Dec 21-27 for #Saskatchewan. Hazard level and wastewater measures are elevated from last week and COVID transmission is considered very high. Please do what you can to stay safe. #covid19sk
Truly an anti-public health campaign from SHA for the holidays.
The page they link to says almost nothing about wearing masks. SHA must stop saying 'respect others’ choices,' it turns into a norm of silence around those choices. That tends to default to everyone doing the least careful things.
If the message were, 'respect the boundaries of people who are more careful than you,' this would be better. #covid19sk #skpoli

To Saskatchewan's Official Opposition:
PPE for your skull, eyes, and ears, but not for your brain, heart, and vascular system. Wear a respirator, and set a good example recommended by health authorities, please.
Meeting indoors like you are could leave you crippled by the pandemic.

Dr. Lavoie's time is short & can't cover all reasons why masks are ignored. Key takeaway here is how masks could've been / still could be widely in use to actually prevent disease, & mobilizing people as symbol of community health & solidarity. Should be heard widely #covid19sk
Great interview w/@kimlouiselavoie, health behavioural scientist. Crucial to understand non-mask-wearing as ≠"selfishness." Pub-health mistakes have led majority who are considerate in other parts of life to not see good/usefulness in masking: https://bit.ly/3iTRXH9 #covid19sk
On Wednesday, I went to a professional event in a large room that wasn’t heavily populated and wore my KN95 the whole time. The only other masked pair left as I arrived. This is literally the first event I have been to outside my apartment in weeks. I work from home. I mask when I have to shop. Now I’m sick and playing the is-it-or-isn’t-it-COVID game. I hate this for everyone. Let’s make it stop.

Are any other organizations in #saskatchewan doing in-public, *pro*-community-health activism around COVID (or other diseases) to pressure or compel the provincial government to act on reducing/mitigating infection? And still active? #skpoli #covid19sk

Why have mask mandates in #SK schools? Kids just transmit it in after-school social events, like sleepovers. It's why @SaskHealth@twitter.com doesn't have a mask mandate on its premises either, because people who work there only get #COVID19sk from after-work activities. Like BBQs and— oh.
Anyone else?
Being high-risk and being #COVID19 smart, is really isolating and really really sucks
That’s all

Medical personnel of #Saskatchewan, does @SaskHealth@twitter.com ever talk about #LongCovid? If so, do they ever do so…with emphasis?
We searched SHA's tweets & only have seen mention of it over a year ago. We're unaware of other media where they might talk about it tho.#covid19sk #skpoli
