As I sit here with Cox internet cutting in and out, I know wherever I am able to buy a home, I need to have other options besides Cox. Along with direct flights to my family and friends. But for real, Cox internet is horrible. I think it might be worse than Comcast.

I want to run my own private #mastodon #instance. #COX internet has a #monopoly in my area. It blocks port 80 and throttles internet after 1 TB (without a business plan). A business plan requires a business permit and ~$300 a month.

I've reached out to #neutrinet and ordered an #internetcube and #VPN with a static IP at neutrinet.be but have yet to hear back if it's even possible.

What other options do I have that are not exorbitantly expensive?

#Cox are absolutely shit at communication, despite it being their business model. They put the wrong dates for a planned outage on door hangers, didn't hang them on the doors of some of the people affected, and when called, just responded with a recording with a bullshit ETA.
If you manage to get to a person (hit 0 then # when you get the first menu), the agent doesn't know any more than the recording!

Sigh, both #ATT and #Cox are having routing issues right now. Both are hitting Wichita and going to Sweden then back to the west coast.

Looks like I have not had any kernel panics yet with #VyOS on #proxmox. I had to do some funky stuff to get an IP from my cox isp. #VyOS wouldn't pull any dhcp at all. I called #cox support and talking networks with them is like a bad trip on mushrooms.
So I had to connect my laptop and grab all the address info, spoof the laptops mac address, then statically assign me the IP. I know it's ganna cause problems, but fuck it.
