The #CPTPP's expansion challenge

Back in November 2019 just before the General Election I drew this.
The scary thing is how accurate I turned out to be. The only detail I got wrong was that the important trade deal was the #CPTPP not the US. And it only took 4 years not 6.
After the #UK joined the #CPTPP, some believe the #EU should follow
But according to David Henig, "there are better alternatives for EU CPTPP trade engagement, starting with deepening dialogue on new trade policy issues"

As we've joined the #CPTPP the Torygraph and Spectator columnists will be puzzled why there's still Dover gridlock during Easter holidays, fully expecting families to be vacationing in the Pacific and making the most of all those #Brexit benefits
UK joins trans-Pacific trade bloc in a deal likely to boost GDP by less than 0.1%
Although the government called the agreement its “biggest trade deal since Brexit,” its own estimates show that joining the CPTPP will increase UK economic output by less than 0.1% in the long run, or over approximately 15 years.

So the UK is signing up to the #cptpp. This is supposed to be the great benefit of #brexit. Not only is it only giving us only 0.08% trade benefit after costing us ~10%, it means that companies can sue the UK in secret foreign tribunals if they think that our national laws and safety regulations are costing them money. So tell me again about taking back control?
UK joining CPTPP:
Canadian farmers are unhappy because Canada allows cheese imports from Britain while 'fundamentally unjust' British rules obstruct beef exports.

Heart of the #CPTPP – an international arbitration system that will allow corporations to sue the British government for treating them “unfairly”.
Corporate courts challenge all manner of climate action. Canadian companies brought 64 cases against governments. One Canadian company that didn’t have the permits to mine sued Colombia for $700m for daring to restrict gold mining operations on environmental grounds.

"The #CPTPP regional countries’ total GDP is about £9tr, about 500 million people. It’s where the new middle class will be coming from in the future and now we’re going to have a closer trading relationship with them." -

A big step for the UK in post-Brexit trade policy as yesterday they became the first country outside of the Indo-Pacific region to accede to the #CPTPP
But what was agreed upon?

The UK's decision to join the Pacific trade bloc (#CPTPP) has only succeeded in provoking damning comparisons with Britain's membership of the EU/EEA.
EEA: 30 countries, GDP £11tn, UK trade £557bn. Leaving => losing 4.0% GDP.
CPTPP: 11 countries, GDP £9tn, only £91bn of UK trade and UK already has trade deals with 9 of 11 members. Joining => 0.08% GDP
Net result = loss of 3.92% of GDP.
