SoCal Gas is regulated by the the #CaliforniaPublicUtilityCommission (#CPUC), which tolerated this mounting illegal conduct for many years, even as the company circulated internal memos as early as 2015 discussing its plans to oppose electrification in the state on the basis that it constituted "a significant risk to our business."

#CPUC just approved, 3-1, unlimited #robotaxi expansion in SF, despite hours of comment in opposition, overwhelming daily evidence the technology is far from ready, and a lack of accountability (the cars cannot be issued moving violations. Like, at all).

This was expected, but it's still infuriating and corrupt. One of the commissioners was a high ranking official at #Cruise just over a year ago and didn't recuse himself.

Just the beginning. The fight continues.

The #CPUC comments are showing us what a red flag it is when someone self-describes as an “avid cyclist.”

There’s nothing wrong with sport cycling as such but when you’re just bicycling to work, friends, family, errands, you don’t describe your activities as avid. The Avid Cyclist tends to be the one who’s getting ready to defend car dominance.

Apparently Waymo sent employees to the #CPUC #Robotaxi hearing to clap at every positive comment.

Couldn't they get AI to analyze the sentiments of the comment and, if appropriate, clap? Why do they need humans for this

Most folks don't get how critical gas storage is, particularly for the #LABasin. Without it gas deliveries, particularly in winter, can get disrupted during extreme cold and high demand. Think Texas freeze. And its not like gas storage can be done anywhere--it relies on geological formations (vs building housing there). Yes, we need to phase FF out, but fully closing Aliso would create large risk without reliable substitute infrastructure
